FAQ's About the Washington Park Home Tour
2008 Home Tour: Saturday, May 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
(always on Mother's Day weekend)
-
What is the Washington Park Home Tour? Homeowners from the Wash Park neighborhood donate the use of their homes for a day, and the school sells tickets for people to get a chance to walk through these homes. The home tour is one of Steele Elementary's largest fundraisers. Last year the Home Tour raised close to $30,000!
-
Why would people want to pay to walk through someone's elses home? Our house selection committee always finds interesting houses, such as bungalows, pop-ups, original two story and newly built homes. Some people go just to see these homes. Others go to get ideas for remodeling their own home. There are also wonderful people in the neighborhood who go to suppor Steele Elementary.
-
How much will tickets be? The tickets will be $15.00 in advance and $20.00 the day of the tour.
-
Who sells tickets? We send 10 tickets home with each student and ask him or her to try to sell those tickets in their neighborhood. Tickets are also available for purchase here. Tickets will also be sold at our sponsors, Coldwell Banker and First Bank, and at the school. - I am unable to commit that much time to the Home Tour but would still like to help. One way to help is to advertise your business in the Home Tour Brochure. Advertise your business for as little as $200.00 - the deadline for advertising in the brochure is March 15th! Another way is to volunteer three and a half hours on May 10th as a house monitor (more information will come in future Thursday folders.)
