Community Programs
The Steele Community Committee is responsible for managing activities that improve communications and interaction within the Steele community and the greater Wash Park neighborhood and Denver business community.
Coordinator is responsible for monthly collection of “key dates/activities” to publish on the PTA website and include in the monthly PTA packet that goes home with students. Responsible for collecting information, preparing cover letter, timely submittal to printer, and collating packets (with other PTA volunteers).
Collaborates with classroom teachers, the PTA, the CSC to make sure room parents are informed so that Steele families are in the know. Work with teachers to identify a class parent for every Steele classroom to be liaison to the PTA for stronger integration and communication between PTA and classroom activities. Maintain list of contacts and send periodic emails with PTA and school updates
Manage updates to the PTA website. Typically requires a significant annual update followed by monthly changes to general content. The major fundraising websites may require more frequent changes during the planning and promotional cycles.
Utilizing the new My Directory Maker software package, the coordinator will collect, input and layout the content for the annual School Directory. At registration, parents will update their directory information via a secure online portal. Email confirmations will be sent out and validated prior to printing of the directory. Coordinator will work with Sponsors/Advertising Committee to include community supporters. The My Directory Maker software will be the tool to prepare the directory for printing and distribution to families.
Coordinate activities throughout the year to show appreciation for Steele’s amazing teachers and staff. Typically includes planning a holiday luncheon (or brunch) and a Teacher Appreciation Week luncheon (or brunch). In addition the coordinator will promote the daily theme for Teacher Appreciation week where students bring gifts or tokens of appreciation for their teachers.
New to Steele? Or have you been part of Steele but still have questions that are not related to the classroom. The Welcome/Hospitality Committee can help you find the answers. The coordinator will send out email communications with updates that may be helpful for new parents as they get acclimated to the school. In addition to organizing coffee talks with Principal Gene Boyer, the coordinator will assist the PTA with hospitality requests for events and meetings.
