Parent/Guardian Members

There will be  two openings for parents/guardians on the Steele Collaborative School Committee or “CSC” for the 2008-2009 school year.  (Beth Hasse and Monica Lengyel will continue for their second year.)

The purpose of the CSC is to advance student achievement and school climate.  The primary responsibility of the CSC is to develop and monitor implementation of the School Improvement Plan.  The CSC should represent the diversity of the school.

Members of the CSC serve for two-year terms and include the principal, four teachers, four parents/guardians, one classified employee and a community member.  Parents/guardians elect the parent/guardian members and staff elect the faculty members. This year, the CSC meets in the Library on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of each month.  Parents and staff are welcome to attend any meeting.

If you are interested in serving on the CSC next year, please provide the CSC with the following information:
1.  Your name

2.   Your child(ren)'s grade for the 2008-2009 school year
3.   A brief statement of why you would like to be on the CSC and/or the skills you can bring to the CSC.
Please provide this information by 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 10 by email to  elisa98999@hotmail.com  or by placing it in the CSC envelope posted on the bulletin board outside the auditorium.

If more than two parents/guardians express interest in serving on the CSC by the deadline, an election will be held.  Written ballots will go home in the Thursday folder on Thursday, April 17.  The information provided by the applicants above will be included with the ballots.  A ballot box will be available in the office for casting ballots.  Returned ballots will be counted on Friday, April 25th at 8:30 am in the lunchroom.

More details about the CSC may be found at   http://www.dpsk12.org/manila/programs/communityrelat/CSCPolicyBDFH.doc and http://www.dpsk12.org/manila/programs/communityrelat/CSCOperatingProcedures903.doc or by searching www.dpsk12.org for Policy BDFH and Operating Procedures for Collaborative School Committees.  Copies of these documents may also be found on the bulletin board outside the auditorium.
